I knew I liked you before I even met you. It wasn't just the way you carried yourself in the hallways or the way you commanded the room during events. It was that you felt like a piece of home I didn't know I was missing.

We come from the same roots, yet we grew up in different worlds. I watched you from the sidelines - proud of you like I had a right to be, even though I was just a face in the crowd.

I remember small moments. A glance in the laundry room. A pause on a phone call where you were kind enough to wait for me to find my words. You were a gentleman when you didn't have to be.

But I also saw the reality. I saw you with her, and I realised that the story I was writing in my head was only happening in my head. You are on a different path, one that doesn't include me.

So, this is me letting go. I am not sending this to you. I am sending this to the Universe. I hope your life blooms. I hope you are safe, wealthy, and loved. You taught me that I am capable of caring for someone unconditionally.
